What this article is

Alexander Semyon Vindman is a retired United States Army lieutenant colonel who served as the Director of European Affairs for the National Security Council (NSC) until 2020. He came to national attention in 2019 as a witness in Congress's impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump during the Trump–Ukraine scandal. In his testimony, he described concerns he had previously reported regarding a call between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that contributed to the abuse of power charge in the first impeachment of Trump.

What changed that day

The article grew by 458 characters that day. The largest single addition was 318 characters. See everything that changed on 2026-08-19 in Wikipedia's own diff view — that is where the reason for a surge is usually visible, written and sourced by the editors who were following the story.

How this was measured

Views are Wikimedia's own pageview counts for en.wikipedia, filtered to agent=user so automated traffic is excluded. The baseline is the median of the previous 60 days, which is used instead of the mean so that an earlier surge cannot flatten a later one. The multiple is the day's views divided by that median.
